The story behind Shockplay.com
The story behind Shockplay.com
History
Shockplay.com is produced by Raketspel.
In year 2000 Per “Rocketman” Ekstig, together with two partners: Johan “Hammarn” Höglund and Oskar “Pixel Pusher” Andersson founded their company Raketspel.
Their objective was to create fun web games, and also to make more traditional CD-ROM based multimedia.
In year 2001 Rocketman got an idea of making a Table Tennis game, it was just a small singleplayer game.
Almost everyone that tried it got hooked, and it spread widely on the web.
The Raketspel gang decided to build a community around the game, and they also added more games.
Said and done, in december 2001 they launched Shockplay version 1.0.
It then was a gaming site with 7 single player games, and it was free of charge.

And from there they kept on building it into the community they wanted it to be.
The Staff got in hundreds of requests to make the Table Tennis game into a multiplayer game, which they did.
To cover the development costs and the servers costs they made Shockplay to a pay-to-play site.
The Table Tennis multiplayer game was a tough challenge for the team to create, but they did! And also added more multiplayer games like; Couronne, Backgammon etcetera.
With those changes they also added more features such like the buddy list.
A old introduction for Shockplay.com:
After this as we all know, the guys kept on building more to the site!
